Here’s a show of hands for recapturing the bohemian spirit. Recently I was passing through a town in western Massachusetts and found this bright little spot. This form of street art is part of an initiative to beautify what are necessary nuisances – namely, large utility boxes. I am always so excited to see positive projects. To me, little things like this make a big difference and inspire others to be creative as well. Call it the snowball effect. If projects like this begin to happen everywhere, the world would be a brighter place.
Sometimes a maxi dress or skirt can feel a little old hat for the summer. But I’m wearing the perfect alternative: palazzo pants. For those days when you want to wear pants but it’s too hot for denim or something tighter, they are a perfect breezy option. I love this crazy pair with bold colors, but you could also do a monochromatic look with this pair and this top.
This look does have a bohemian feel to it, especially with the amazing vintage fringe bag from a multicultural festival. The concept of “bohemian” has been around for a while. At some point after a trend arises, there is a subsequent decline in terms of it feeling unique. So how do you capture the spirit in a fresh way? One way is to recapture the go-with-the-flow feel of the 1970s by means of a patterned bottom (like the pants I wore or these) and pair it with a “classic shirt” – in this case a crisp button-down tied at the waist. But, of course, add some fun accessories like this fringy thing that catches the wind as you march along.
