It’s not often during the peak of summer in Boston that sleeves feel comfortable. And then surprise, surprise, we get a mid 70s day with a swift breeze. It was the perfect time to pull out this Ralph Lauren shirtdress. For me, shirtdresses are like white t’s and jeans – classic. This feels especially true when rendered in the most classic of color combinations (and if you saw this post you know I love stripes). I think anyone who is a native of New England has a little bit of prep in them.
Beacon Hill is one of the prettiest (and historically colorful!) neighborhoods. At peak times and seasons it can get a little touristy (especially the famous Acorn Street. Seriously…the most photographed street in America!). But it’s the little side roads and cobblestone paths that are worth the wander. One thing I always find: so many handsome doors in a rainbow of colors.
Shirtdresses are timeless and chic but in a relaxed way. It’s no wonder that Audrey Hepburn – arguably the epitome of relaxed sophistication – often wore them. Here are a few more of my current favorites:
- Moon River
- Isabella Sinclair
- Veronica Beard (I walked for the Veronica’s at a show in Boston and they are lovely)
- Victoria Victoria Beckham
- T by Alexander Wang
