Newbury Street literally emerged from the waters of Boston Harbor to become the “Rodeo Drive of the East.” In the mid 1800’s, the harbor was filled and became the Back Bay district of Boston. Originally a residential area that rivaled Beacon Hill in the late 1800’s, Newbury Street evolved into a shopping hub. Independent shops and high end boutiques housed in brownstones line the broad mile long avenue, constructed with an eye cast toward European design elements.
